My Favorite Golden Milk Recipe

Golden Milk (1 serving)

PREP TIME: 10 mins.

I love to drink this creamy delicious and health-promoting Ayurvedic beverage in the chilly evenings. The turmeric lubricates my joints and helps calm a restless leg. How’s that? Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties thanks to its curcumin content which is made more available with the addition of black pepper. I have made other recipes and have tried a few commercial preparations over the years, and this is by far my favorite.

DIRECTIONS: Heat these ingredients in a saucepan for 3-4 minutes

1 c milk /mylk of your choice. I like oat milk, but almond is nice too. If cow milk is your thing, go for it!
1/2 tsp ground turmeric or fresh root (be careful as it stains cutting boards, carpets…)
1/2 tsp ground ginger or fresh root
1/8 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 tsp +/- ground cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract or powder
1 T Artisana Raw Coconut Butter (or cashew butter)
Date syrup or preferred sweetener to your taste

Option: After heating, strain through a fine mesh sieve. Otherwise, stir your Golden Milk frequently as the ingredients settle in the bottom of your cup.

I give credit to Bianca in the Nederlands for this recipe which I have modified to my tastes. She says that while fresh is best, you can make multiple cups and store them in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
